From insulated mugs to wine bottles, and from pet bowls to footballs, surface decoration on cylindrical and conical products has long been a challenge for the printing industry. Traditional cylindrical printing equipment often struggles when handling products with handles, steps, or tapered sections. In June 2026, Inkcups launched the Helix High Throw UV Cylindrical Printer, which completely transformed this landscape through a technology called "High Throw." This technology significantly increases the inkjet distance between the printhead and the substrate, enabling ink to land precisely on challenging surfaces. The device can print on products with diameters ranging from 65 mm to 180 mm and handle height variations of up to 15 mm. Whether it's stepped cups with handle-mounting posts, conical containers, or uniquely shaped items such as footballs, soccer balls, pet bowls, and flower pots, the printer delivers seamless, full-color, 360-degree graphic printing. The device also features advanced product scanning capabilities for precise pattern alignment on contoured surfaces. Derek LaChance, Digital Product Manager at Inkcups, stated: " "Previously, traditional cylindrical inkjet printers were unable to accommodate certain products, failing to achieve stunning visual effects on containers with varying diameters and angles. The launch of the Helix High Throw has completely transformed this situation."
For consumers, this technology redefines the visual experience of everyday items. In the past, decorating cylindrical products relied either on costly screen printing and hot stamping, or required settling for labels with discontinuous, seam-marked designs. Today, from custom-logoed insulated mugs to intricately patterned sports water bottles, from personalized pet bowls to limited-edition wine bottles, every curved surface can now feature continuous, seamless, and high-precision color designs. This means brands can launch limited-edition custom products with greater flexibility, while small creative studios can take on personalized printing orders for all kinds of irregularly shaped products with a lower barrier to entry. When a single machine can achieve seamless 360-degree printing on a cup body as small as 65 millimeters in diameter, every everyday item has the potential to become a walking work of art. The equipment also supports a six-color configuration-including double white, double varnish, and CMYK-enabling smoother gradients and more lifelike image effects. As printing is no longer constrained by the shape of an object, consumers' personalized choices have expanded from two-dimensional to three-dimensional.
