Tips for Mirror Reflective Material Printing

When printing reflective materials such as mirror surfaces in digital inkjet printing, due to the smooth surface of the mirror, it is easy to form mirror reflections, which may cause damage to the print head. To ensure the smooth progress of the printing process and the safety of the print head, the following are some things to pay attention to:

1. Adjust print settings

Lowering the height of the front of the printer: When printing, it is advisable to lower the height of the front of the printer appropriately to reduce the reflected light from the UV lamp directly shining on the mirror surface, thereby reducing the potential threat of reflected light to the print head.

Adjust the UV lamp irradiation angle: If possible, adjust the irradiation angle of the UV lamp to avoid direct irradiation onto the mirror surface, in order to reduce the generation of reflected light.

2. Real time monitoring and adjustment

Always pay attention to the printing effect: During the printing process, you should always pay attention to the printing effect. If you find any streaking or ink breakage, you should immediately pause printing. This is because these phenomena may be a precursor to print head blockage, and timely handling can prevent further damage to the print head.

Ink pressing and wiping print head: When abnormal printing effect is found, ink pressing operation should be carried out for about 2 seconds, and the print head surface should be wiped dry with a dust-free cloth. If the problem is still unresolved, you can repeat this operation until the printing effect returns to normal.

3. Increase the frequency of print head maintenance

Increase the frequency of ink pressure wiping: When printing reflective materials, the frequency of ink pressure wiping the print head should be increased. Compared to wiping every 4 hours when printing other materials, it may be necessary to wipe every 2 hours or even shorter when printing reflective materials.

4. Choose suitable ink and materials

Use specialized ink: For printing on reflective materials such as mirrors, specialized ink should be used to ensure good compatibility and printing effect between ink and material.

Preprocessing materials: Before printing, the mirror material is subjected to appropriate pretreatment, such as coating with primer, to enhance the adhesion between ink and material and reduce the generation of reflected light.

5. Other precautions

Keep the environment clean: Ensure that the printing environment is clean and dust-free to reduce the impact of dust on the print head.

Avoid frequent power on/off: As mentioned earlier, frequent power on/off can have adverse effects on the lifespan of inkjet printers. During the printing process, frequent power on and off should be avoided as much as possible.

Safe operation: During the operation process, the printer's usage specifications and safety operating procedures should be followed, such as wearing protective goggles and avoiding direct contact with ink.
